January - Week 2 - Roundup

Manuscript Update

• The Last Legacy: Season Two - Wrote 17k words
  • It was the same old shit on a different day. John had been getting worse with his constant need for control. I swore the other guys were going to dip out on us if he didn’t pull back the reins. Somehow that was my job. Kev told me if I just took more control, John would have no choice but to step back.
    Everyone respected me more. they trusted my opinion because I didn’t work based off emotions. I took in a situation, evaluated it, and then reacted. John was the polar opposite. He acted, he spoke, and he fucked up. It’d gotten him in a shit ton of trouble in real life, even more so in this afterlife.
    “We begin the loot at the end of the road and work out way back. Work in teams of two and three. Don’t go off alone. Anything weird, yell,” I said as we got out of the cars. I rode with Kev and Snake, a weird ass hick we picked up on the side of the road. John drove the other car with Kyle and Jerry. We decided to leave Sean and Roger back at our safe house just in case. You could never be too careful in my opinion.
    “How do we know there’s even supplies?” Kyle asked, glaring at me.
    “It’s a residential area that’s nowhere near the main blasts. We’re taking a chance, but why not? What do we have to lose?” I asked as I reached into the trunk of our beat up Honda and grabbed my rifle. I threw it over my shoulder and grabbed my gloves.
    “Let’s do you, me, and Snake. Kyle you lead Kev, show him the ropes a bit.”
    I didn’t like his pairings, but I knew his angle. He wanted to piss on me, show me who was in charge. It was a pathetic attempt, but I nodded my head along anyway. I didn’t care how we got the job done, only that we finished this before night fell. I didn’t know for sure, but the infected seemed to be stronger at night, faster, hungrier. I couldn’t explain it. But that didn’t mean much, I only had my GED.
• The Summer I Changed - Outlined and wrote about 3k
  • Last summer I realized that those veins in your hands are worth more than romance. I found out that the best spot to shoot up heroin is the vein on top of your hand. It gets the best high, or so I’m told. Then after you’re done, you raise your hand and hold it above your head. Who knows if it’s more a mental thing, but Brandon swore by the trick.
• For The Love of Lilly - Wrote about 5k
  • Nobody understood me.
    Alone in a world of chaos was a constant nightmare. My siblings had each other to lean on when times got tough. But it was me myself and I against the huge force of strength that was my father. I could go toe to toe with him. I was probably the only person in my family that dared which was why he held me to such high standards. I wasn’t like the others.
    “Darling, grab me my drink from the counter,” my mother said as I walked into the kitchen. I rolled my eyes but walked to the granite counter to get her alcohol. The clear liquid was in a regular glass, but I wasn’t naive. She hadn’t been sober since I was born.

Taylor Lavati yet again has amazed us with another phenomenal read. From beginning to end we were completely transfixed. We simply couldn’t put it down. We fell in love with Lindsay’s spirit, her strength, determination and sassy attitude. We fell in love with Finn and his confidence, humour and determination. We fell in love with them both and their ability to overcome heartache, pain and obstacles they both faced. We loved the way we got to see so many characters from the first installment For The Love Of Ash.

A Love Of Hockey is an absolute brilliant read so full of emotion it will leave you completely breathless.

Again to Taylor, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to read and review your beautiful novel. We absolutely loved, loved, loved it.

We highly recommend For The Love Of Hockey to be on everyone’s TBR list. A definite MUST read.
